How to Install Hyland ActiveX
By J.S. Copper
Certain websites and online applications require the Internet Explorer plug-in, ActiveX, to run properly. ActiveX extends the functionality of the browser. Hyland Software is an enterprise content management company, providing document and image management. If the Hyland site or software is informing you that it needs ActiveX to run properly, you will need to adjust the browser’s security settings to allow the controls to install.
Open Internet Explorer. Select “Tools” from the menu bar at the top and then “Internet Options” from the resulting menu.
Click on the “Security” tab of the Internet Options menu. Click “Custom Level” from the Security menu.
Select “Enable ActiveX Controls and plug-ins.” Confirm the action. Click “Apply,” then “OK” to save the changes. This will allow ActiveX to run in Internet Explorer. You still need to allow the specific Hyland ActiveX control to run.
Navigate to the Hyland site. When the ActiveX Controls are detected, a information toolbar will appear asking you whether or not you want to install the ActiveX control. Click “Allow.” Once installed, the site will run properly.
