How to Install HDMI Cables
By Ricky Gee
HDMI cables are typically used to connect devices that require a high definition signal to a television capable of displaying that signal. In addition to your cable box, HDMI cables connect Blu-ray players, game consoles and some video cameras to your television.
Find the HDMI output on the device that you wish to connect to your TV. It will be a narrow, rectangular connection jack that usually is labeled "HDMI."
Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI output.
Find the HDMI input on your television. Plug in the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI input jack.
Repeat steps 1-3 for connecting any other devices to your television.
- HDMI cables come in different lengths. Make sure to buy a length that leaves some slack on the cable so that it does not get damaged.
- Some televisions have a limited amount of HDMI inputs. Make sure you don't need to hook up more devices than you have inputs for.
