How to Install an Epson Printer on an HP Computer

By C. Taylor

You can obtain the software you need to install your HP printer, even without a disc.

Although you can add a printer through you HP computer's installed Windows 7 operating system, Epson offers an installation disk that automates the process and adds additional software for greater printing versatility. Depending on the Epson printer you have, your installation disk might include photo enhancement or Web-publishing software, or tools for monitoring remaining ink volume. This installation disk will work on any PC, including your HP computer.

Step 1

Turn on your HP computer and make certain that the cable from your Epson printer is detached from it.

Step 2

Insert the installation disk into your optical drive and close the tray.

The menu should automatically run. If it doesn't, press the Windows key and "R" together to open the "Run" dialog box, click "Browse," navigate to your CD or DVD drive and double-click "Setup." Click "OK" to run the Setup.

Step 3

Click "Agree" after reading the licensing agreement.

Step 4

Connect your Epson printer to your HP computer when instructed to do so by the installation program. Depending on the Epson model, the printer may connect to your computer's parallel printer port or USB port.

Step 5

Click "Print Test Page" to test your printer.

Step 6

Select the additional software you want to install by following the onscreen prompts. This may only require clicking "Next."

Step 7

Follow the onscreen prompts to register your printer, if you'd like to do so.

Step 8

Restart you computer after the installation has completed.
