How to Install CCcam on DreamBox

By Alex Tannin

Dreambox is the brand name of a variety of Linux-powered satellite and digital television set-top boxes available across Europe. You can install different types of software on Dreamboxes depending on the specific functions you want them to perform. One of these is CCcam, a piece of software that allows users to access new and different packages of TV channels.

Step 1

Boot up your Dreambox and select any channel. Press the blue button on your remote control to bring the "Common Interface" menu up. Select "Addons" by pressing the "2" button on your remote control.

Step 2

Select "Download and Install" on the window that appears and scroll down to "CCcam 2.0.4 Complete Download." Select it to start downloading CCcam.

Step 3

Select "Yes" when asked, "Are you sure you want to install this addon?" Press the "Exit" button on your remote and select "cam-config" on the menu that appears. Select "CCcam-Config 2.04" on the menu that appears, then answer "Yes" again when asked, "Are you sure you wish to install this addon?"

Step 4

Exit the "Addons" screen and load the Dreambox Control Center on your computer by double-clicking its icon. Connect your computer with the Dreambox. This should happen automatically; if not, just click the "Reconnect" button. Click the "FTP" tab, select "/var/etc" and highlight "CCcam.cf"" in the left-hand window. Right-click the file and select "Edit." Replace this file with the one you just downloaded, close the editor and select "Yes" at the prompt.

Step 5

Exit your Dreambox Control Center and press the blue button on your remote again. Press the volume button on your remote until "CCcam-2.0.4" appears at the top of the menu. Select "Auto-Cam Enable" and "Auto-Cam Setup," then change the "Default Cam" in the drop-down menu to "CCcam-2.0.4."

Step 6

Press "Exit" on your remote repeatedly until all menus are closed. Reboot your Dreambox. CCcam will now be installed and running.
