How to Install Canon Pixma Software

By Greyson Ferguson

Over the last several years, Canon has become an industry leader with its line of printers. This is apparent with the Pixma brand of printers. Pixmas are Canon's all-in-one printers, which means not only can they print, but they also come equipped with the ability to scan and copy documents. In addition, all of the Pixma printers are compact in size, making them excellent for small business use.

Plug the USB cord into the printer and plug the other end into the computer.

Attach the printer to the power cord and plug it into a wall outlet.

Turn on the printer's power. Your computer will detect the printer automatically by stating it has detected new hardware. There is no need to restart the computer.

Insert the driver installation CD into your computer's CD drive. If you do not have the installation CD, you can download its information from the Canon website. The link in the Resources section below connects to the Canon driver download page.

Click "Continue" when the "Welcome to the Canon Printer Driver" windows comes up.

Select "Continue" to agree to the license agreement. You will not be allowed to install the driver if you don't select "Continue."

Choose a destination for the installation. The default location will be highlighted and is recommended.

Click "Install," and the installation of the Canon Pixma software will begin. It will take only a minute or two, and then it will inform you of its completion. When this occurs, click "OK."
