As smartphones, like the iPhone, continue to take on the traditional roles of computers, you want to have extra control over formatting and presentation. If you need to quote some text in an email, and you want to indent it to set the quote apart, you can use the Mail app's Quote Level option, which will let you indent selected text or paragraphs. The selected text will indent with a blue line setting it apart from the rest of the body text.

Step 1

Press and hold on the text you want to select until the menu opens.

Step 2

Select all the text you want by sliding the blue bars to the end of the words to select.

Step 3

Tap the right arrow on the menu, and then select "Quote Level."

Select "Increase" to make the indent larger. Select "Decrease" to make the indent smaller.
