The default software keyboard that appears on Android screens can be difficult to navigate, especially if you have eyesight issues, large hands or mobility challenges. Although Android does not have a native feature to magnify the keyboard, several third-party apps can help you make the keyboard larger, such as Big Buttons Keyboard Standard, Big Keyboard and ThickButtons.

Big Buttons Keyboard Standard

Step 1

Download and install the free Big Buttons Keyboard Standard app from Google Play (link in Resources).

Step 2

Launch the app, tap "Language and Input," check off the application name, and then press "Back." This gives the app permission to be used as an input source.

Tap "Select Input Method," check off the application name once again and tap "Back."

Step 3

Select "Big Keyboard." Your Android prompts you with a security warning regarding keyloggers. However, these keyboard magnifiers are not malware, so press "OK."

Scroll up and tap "Input Method." Check off "Big Keyboard."

Step 1

Download and install the ThickButtons app from Google Play (link in Resources).

Step 2

Open your Android "Settings Menu" and choose "Language and Input."
