How to Improve Online Video Streaming

by Missy J. Talbot

Streaming video is popular online, because people like to watch their television programs at different times, and people are also very interested in multimedia facets like video and audio production and quality. If you watch a lot of streaming video, and you find that your computer is jerky or the videos aren't playing properly, there are a few ways that you can improve the streaming video quality on your computer.

Turn off any other program that you do not need. Each program you are running, especially those that use the Internet, slows down your computer and causes video players to not run as well. If you shut down whatever you don't need, your streaming videos will run more smoothly.

Pause the video and wait for the video to load into the player before you start to watch it. Sometime when video quality is poor, it is because the player is trying to load the video and play it at the same time. If you press pause, you'll eliminate this problem.

Close full screen mode for streaming videos if your computer doesn't run them well. A smaller player will use less of your computer's memory and will run more smoothly.

Use a different browser. Sometimes, it isn't a problem with your computer, but is a problem with the browser. Some programs and websites work better in different browsers. Try a few of them until you find one that works the best.
