When using multiple Apple devices as part of your company's infrastructure, you probably want to maintain some settings continuity between them. This can apply either to your own personal devices, or those of your employees. If you want to import settings from one device, such as your iPhone, to another, such as your iPad, then you can use iTunes. ITunes can back up one device and import those settings into another Apple device. Since both devices use iOS, they are compatible.

Step 1

Plug your iPhone in to your computer.

Step 2

Open iTunes if it does not launch automatically.

Step 3

Click your iPhone's name in the iTunes sidebar.

Step 4

Click "Check for Update." The backup window will appear.

Step 5

Click "Continue" to create the backup, then continue with the update process.

Step 6

Remove the iPhone, and plug in your iPad.

Step 7

Select the iPad in iTunes.

Step 8

Click the "Restore" button.

Step 9

Select "Restore from Backup" when prompted.

Select your most recent iPhone backup from the menu that appears. The restore process begins, importing iPhone settings to the iPad.

  • Settings from third party apps not affiliated with Apple will not transfer. Only Apple-specific settings (backgrounds, calendar, email) will. You may have to sync individual apps to restore certain settings.
