How to Import a DWG into EagleCAD
By Tommy Charles
EagleCAD is a German software application that allows you to create and edit computer-aided drawing (CAD) files. As a CAD application, EagleCAD is useful for architectural planning and design. The .dwg format was the first CAD format to be created and is owned by Autodesk. This proprietary format is nevertheless used by many CAD programs. Some non-Autodesk programs are capable of working with .dwg files directly, while others can only view them. Importing a .dwg file into EagleCAD is a straightforward process.
Step 1
Click "Start" and "All Programs." Click the "EagleCAD" entry.
Step 2
Click "File" and then "Import."
Step 3
Click the "Browse" button to navigate to the directory where the .dwg file is located, and then click the "File Type" drop-down box. Click ".dwg," and then double-click the .dwg file to be imported. Click "OK."
