How to Transfer Photos from a Galaxy S3 to a Computer
By Randall Blackburn
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the most popular smartphones available for business and personal use, according to Digital Trends. With the Galaxy S3, as with most smartphones, you can capture photos and videos. You can then transfer the image files to your computer using the USB syncing cable that ships with the phone. However, before establishing a connection between the phone and your computer, you need to download and install the Galaxy S3 USB drive drivers from the Samsung site.
Open a Web browser on the computer and navigate to the Samsung driver download site (link in Resources). Click the "Downloads" tab in the middle of the page, and then click the “Device (Install), USB Driver (Software)” link to download the software. Save the EXE file to your hard drive. Click the EXE file and follow the prompts to install the drivers to the computer.
Plug the microUSB connector on the USB syncing cable into the Samsung Galaxy S3. Plug the standard USB connector into a free USB port on the computer. The USB Connection prompt displays on the phone.
Tap and hold the top navigation bar. Pull the bar downward to view the “Window Shade” menu.
Tap the “Connected As Media Device > Media Device (MTP)” option in the "Window Shade" menu. The Galaxy S3 registers on the computer as a removable drive.
Open File Explorer to the Computer location on the computer by pressing “Windows-C,” clicking “Search” and typing “computer” into the Search box. Click the “Search” icon. The Computer link lists on the left side of the screen. Click the “Computer” link. The File Explorer opens to the Computer location.
Click the entry for the Galaxy removable drive. The contents of the phone are displayed as files and folders in File Explorer.
Navigate to the photo files to transfer to your computer. Press the “Ctrl” button, and then click on each photo file to transfer. Each file is highlighted as you click it.
Click and hold one of the highlighted photo files. Drag and drop the photo files into the desired location on your computer.
