How to Switch Winamp to Mono
By Kirk Bennet
If you work with audio files in your business, you can play them back in Winamp. You can switch from stereo to mono mode -- also known as monaural or monophonic sound -- if you need to output audio only on a single channel. Mono sound signals are most often used in radio talk shows, hearing aids and telephone and mobile communication. When you switch from stereo mode to mono mode, the audio signal loses its depth.
Press "Ctrl-P" to open the Winamp Preferences window.
Click the "Playback" link in the left pane to view Winamp's playback settings in the right pane.
Select the "Force Mono" option to force Winamp to play back audio files in mono mode.
Click "Close" to close the Winamp Preferences window.
