HP peripherals include special software designed to help you make the most of each of your devices. By default, the HP utility related to your HP product will start automatically with your PC. This can extend your operating system’s loading time and take up valuable system resources, so if you don’t need the utility at all times it’s best to remove it from your Windows Startup list. Telling the HP utility not to run on startup will give you a faster boot and let you get to work more quickly.

Type “MSConfig” on the Windows 8 Start screen. Click the “MSConfig” icon.

Select the “Startup” tab and click “Open Task Manager.”

Click the “Startup” tab to see a list of programs that run on startup.

Right-click the HP utility you wish to turn off. Select “Disable.”

Close the window when finished. The next time you restart your computer, the utility will not load automatically.
