How to Set Up a Fax on a Multi-Line Telephone
By Ruri Ranbe
Some telephone systems feature two or more lines, enabling business users to switch between calls as needed. Some of these telephones have one or more data ports to which fax machines, modems or answering machines can be connected. You can plug your fax machine into the telephone to enable you to make outgoing calls on the line when you are not sending faxes -- although your company won't be able to receiving incoming faxes while the line is in use.
Plug one end of a telephone cable into the line-out jack on the fax machine. Plug the other end into one of the data ports on the back of the telephone.
Plug one end of a telephone cable into the phone jack on the wall and then plug the other end into the line-in jack on the fax.
Connect the fax machine to power. Pick up the handset on the telephone and select the third line to confirm a dial tone.
