How to Search Public Google Calendars
By Melissa King
If your business's Google calendar looks a bit empty, you might want to fill it with public events. Google offers a variety of public calendars for holidays, sports and other events. You can browse Google's public calendar collection and see a preview of a calendar's events before subscribing to it. After you've subscribed to one, its events will appear on your own calendar. If events are added to or removed from a public calendar, your calendar will update automatically to reflect the changes.
Go to the Google Calendars sign-in page (link in Resources). Sign in to your account.
Click the "Other Calendars" arrow on the left side of the page. Select "Browse Interesting Calendars."
Click the "Holidays," "Sports" or "More" category.
Click "Preview" next to a calendar to see what the calendar looks like. Click the left and right arrows to scroll through the months.
Click "Subscribe" to add the calendar's events to your own calendar. Click "Unsubscribe" to remove them.
When you subscribe to a calendar, it appears in the Other Calendars section. A colored square indicates that the calendar's events will display on your calendar. If you don't want to see these events, click the square to temporarily disable the calendar.
You can search for specific events in a public calendar if you've subscribed to it. Click the down arrow in the search bar at the top of the page, and then click the "All Calendars" drop-down menu. Choose the calendar you want to search. Enter your query in the search bar and press "Enter."
