If you've lost the login information for your business's Facebook account, or an old Facebook account was hacked, you can retrieve or change your information using one of Facebook's several security features. While retrieving and changing a lost Facebook password can be completed in a matter of minutes, retrieving a lost username can take up to 24 hours to recover if you no longer have access to the email account associated with your Facebook login.

When attempting to retrieve a Facebook username or creating a new password, be sure to enter your information slowly, as Facebook might flag your activity as potential spam and lock you out of your account page for 24 hours.

Identifying Login Email and Resetting Your Password

1. Click Forgot Password

Navigate to Facebook on your web browser and click "Forgot Password." Make sure you log out of Facebook on any other devices before proceeding.

Directions may change on android or ios mobile browsers and applications.

2. Fill out Form

Enter your email address, phone number, username or name into the appropriate fields and click "Search." Enter your email address, mobile phone number, username or full name into the appropriate fields and click Search.

3. Verify Address

Verify that the email address displayed with your account is one that you have access to. If this is your email address, it can be used to log in to Facebook. If you know your old password, you can click “login with Password” to regain access to your account. If you want to change passwords, you can click “Continue” to have Facebook send you a password reset code via email or text message.

If you no longer have access to the email address or phone numbers listed on your account in the password reset window, proceed to Section 2.

Accessing Your Account Without Access to Login Information

1. Click "No longer have access"

Click "No longer have access to these."

2. Enter alternate contact

Enter an alternate email address where Facebook may contact you. If you have a security question linked to your account, you will be asked to answer that question.

3. Click Submit

Click "Submit" to enter your request. You will be able to access your account using your new email address and password after a 24-hour verification process.

If you are unable to answer your security question, Facebook will allow you to select three trusted contacts, each of whom will receive a security code in their email. You may deliver these recovery codes to Facebook to regain access to your old account.
