How to Remove a Book From a Nook

by Andrew Tennyson ; Updated February 10, 2017

Removing books from your Galaxy Tab 4 Nook frees up space and helps to declutter your library. Use the Remove From Device command to delete a book from your library while leaving it available for download again on your Barnes & Noble account. Use the Delete From Account command to remove the book both from the Nook and your Barnes & Noble account.

Removing a Book From Your Galaxy Tab 4 Nook

To remove books and periodicals from your Nook, start by opening the library. Tap and hold the item you want to remove and select “Remove from Device.” Selecting this option removes the book from the device itself but leaves it on your online Barnes & Noble account so that you can download it again in the future. To delete the book from both the Nook and your Barnes & Noble account, touch and hold the book’s cover in the library, select “Delete from Account” and then tap “Delete from Account” again to confirm that you want to completely delete the book. This action can’t be undone, so proceed with caution.

Removing Books on Older Nook Devices

How you go about removing books varies somewhat on older Nook devices. On the Nook Tablet, for example, you open the library, tap and hold the book you want to delete, tap “Delete” and then tap “Delete” again to confirm. Deleting a book on these older devices removes it both from the device and from your Barnes & Noble account. This action cannot be undone. On other Nook devices, such as the Simple Touch, you can only archive books, which removes them but does not delete them from your account. Tap a book in your library and select “Archive” to archive it.
