How to Put a Tilde on Facebook
By Ryan Menezes
You can type a tilde on Facebook the same way you would type any other character on your keyboard: by pressing the correct key. The tilde key is in the keyboard's top left corner; you must hold "Shift" as you press it to insert the tilde symbol. If you want to combine the tilde with other letters, however, you must insert the specific tilde character. For example, if you communicate online with Spanish customers or clients, you may have to insert the letter eñe, which includes a tilde over the letter "n."
Place your cursor into the Facebook box where you want to insert the tilde letter.
Press your keyboard's "Num Lock" key to turn on Numbers Lock.
Press and hold the "Alt" key.
Type "165" on your keyboard's numeric keypad to add a capital eñe ("Ñ") or "164" to add a lowercase eñe ("ñ"). Type "0195" on your keyboard's numeric keypad to add a capital a-tilde ("Ã") or "0227" to add a lowercase a-tilde ("ã"). Type "0213" on your keyboard's numeric keypad to add a capital o-tilde ("Õ") or "0245" to add a lowercase o-tilde ("õ").
Tips
If you use a laptop, the numeric keypad is usually embedded within the regular keyboard, using the following keys: "7", "8", "9", "0", "u", "i", "o", "p", "j", "k", "l", ";", ".", and "/".
If your computer has no keypad or Num Lock key, copy and paste the eñe from an external document (links in Resources).
