How to Print a Banner in Word
By Kathryn Hatashita-Lee
Microsoft Word offers a gallery of templates to help you create a banner. You can customize a template using Word's commands so that you can best communicate your product or service. Work with standard sheet paper and a printer to produce an economical display of your company name, slogan or logo. With careful trimming and taping, you can assemble an eye-catching banner to attract potential clients’ business.
Template
Open Word, enter “banner” in the box labeled “Search for online templates,” and then press “Enter” to view the gallery of banner templates.
Click or tap a category to filter the templates and help you refine the search. For example, click “Employee” or “Event Planning.”
Click or tap the preferred thumbnail to preview a larger version. Click “Create” to copy the template to a new Word document.
Edit the template with the Ribbon's commands. For example, click the “Home” tab, and then click your preferred font. You can also resize the graphic by clicking the graphic, and then clicking or tapping and dragging the frame handles to contract or expand the graphic. Save your file when done.
Printer
Power on your printer. Riffle through the paper to ensure the sheets are not sticking, and then load the paper into the printer.
Click or tap the “Print Preview and Print” button in the Quick Access Toolbar to show the preview. As an alternative, click or tap "File," and the click or tap "Print." You can also press “Ctrl-P” to display the Print window. Click or tap and drag the slider button for the zoom slider in the lower part of the screen to view the layout. For example, click or tap and drag the slider button to the left to view the banner pages as smaller thumbnails in sequence on one line.
Click or tap to select the printer in the "Printer" drop-down list. The selected printer should indicate “Ready.”
Click or tap to highlight and select the settings. For example, to test-print only one page, click “Custom Print” and enter the page number in the Pages box, or click “Print All Pages" to print everything.
Click or tap “Print” to activate your printer.
Trim the papers with a paper trimmer or scissors. Place all the papers in sequence on a large, flat surface. To tape the banner sheets together, affix tape to the back edges. For a more sturdy backing, affix each sheet to poster board or other stiff material.
