The Optoma Projector interfaces to your computer through the device's VGA port, but connecting in this manner only provides video and not audio to the projector. You need to purchase and use a 3.5 mm mini-jack audio cable to send audio from your computer to the projector. The cable is available at electronics, hardware and home improvement centers, and hooking it up is quick and simple.

Power off the Optoma projector and position it so that the back of the device is facing you. If you haven't already connected a VGA cable from the projector to your computer, plug one end of the cable into the “VGA” port on the back or side of your laptop or desktop system. Plug the other end of the cable into the “VGA-IN” port on the back of the projector.

Plug the connector end of a 3.5 mm mini-jack audio cable into the “Audio-In” port on the back of the projector.

Plug the other end of the audio cable into the “Headphone” port on the front, back or side of your laptop or desktop system.

Turn on the projector and press the “VGA” button on the its remote control to enable the VGA connection and start a presentation on your computer.

Press the “+” or “-” volume buttons on the remote control to adjust the projector's volume. Adjust your computer's volume down by clicking the "Speaker" icon next to the clock on the system tray if audio from the projector is excessively loud or distorted.
