How to Disable HP Solution Center

By B. Steele

HP Solution Center is HP print management software bundled with some of HP’s “full feature” driver installation packages. However, the frequent pop-ups produced by the software may annoy you while you’re trying to work, or it may slow your system down. Stopping these pop-ups involves either disabling the software when Windows starts up or uninstalling it in Programs and Features. If you have no need for the HP Solution Center, uninstall it to free up disk space.

Disabling HP Solution Center at Startup

Log in to your computer using an administrator account.

Click the Windows "Start" button, type “msconfig” (without quotation marks) in the Search field and press “Enter.”

Click the “Startup” tab and deselect HP Solution Center. Doing so will prevent the program from starting automatically whenever Windows loads.

Click “Apply” and click “OK.” You may be prompted to reboot your system.

Uninstalling HP Solution Center

Make sure you're logged in to the computer with an administrator account.

Click the Windows "Start" button, type “appwiz.cpl” in the Search field and press “Enter.” Locate HP Solution Center in the installed programs list.

Right-click on “HP Solution Center” and click “Uninstall.”

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process, and reboot your system.
