How to Dim the Screen on an HP W2408H

By Matt Koble

HP's W2408H LCD monitor features four buttons near the lower-right corner of the monitor's face. Using these buttons, you can pull up a menu and adjust the brightness. If your W2408H is too bright, it can strain your eyes and make working difficult when you're at the computer for extended periods of time. Dimming the display's brightness setting quickly alleviates the problem, letting you get back to work without the strain on your eyes.

Turn on both the monitor and your computer. Wait for the computer to load to a solid image, making it easier to gauge its peak brightness.

Press the "Menu" button on the lower-right side of the monitor to display the monitor's Main Menu. Use the plus and minus sign buttons to move up and down within the menu until you highlight "Brightness." Press the monitor's "Select" button.

Press the minus button to dim the brightness setting to your liking. Pressing the plus button increases the brightness. Do not touch any buttons on the monitor for 30 seconds and the monitor will automatically save the brightness setting and exit the menu.
