How to Create a Yahoo Business Listing
By Joshua Phillips
Online map tools, such as Yahoo Maps, enable customers to find nearby stores and companies when searching for something in the area. Creating a business listing on Yahoo gives you the option to provide information, such as business hours and a link to your company website. Creating a business listing is free and requires only a Yahoo account and some basic information about your business.
Navigate to the Yahoo Local website (see Resources), click "Sign In" and then follow the prompts to sign in to your account.
Enter the information about your business in the fields provided. You will need to enter your contact information, such as your name and email address, and basic information about your business such as your business name, address and telephone number. Click "Continue" when complete.
Click "Additional Business Information" to open the tab and enter information such as your Facebook page and Twitter username. You can also upload a photo of your business.
Click "Hours of Operation" to open the tab and enter your hours of operation in the fields provided.
Click "Other Operation Details" to enter any additional information, such as additional languages your employees speak, the brands you carry and how long you have been in business.
Click "Preview Listing" to view what your business listing will look like. Clicking "Close Preview" will allow you to make changes if desired or submit your listing.
Enter the verification code in the field underneath the picture of the code.
Click "I Agree" underneath the Terms of Service.
Click "Submit Information" to submit your business information to Yahoo. In general, it takes one to two weeks for Yahoo to verify your business information and make it public; if there are any concerns with your listing, Yahoo will contact you.
You must fill in all fields marked with a red asterisk. All other fields are optional.
Signing up for an enhanced listing enables you to add more information to your listing, such as a company tagline or additional photos. As of December 2012, an enhanced listing costs $9.99 per month.
