Ordinary blog content, including text entries and photos, enters your Tumblr site's body through its posting tools. Sometimes, however, you need to post matter into the body of your template to bind it permanently to your blog. For example, if you want to attach a Facebook badge or Twitter button above your posts, you need to paste the relevant code into the body of your template. Tumblr grants you access to this code through your theme's customization page.

Log in to Tumblr and open your blog in your Web browser.

Click "Customize" to open your blog's theme customization page.

Click "Edit HTML" to open the theme's code.

Press "Ctrl-F" to open your browser's Find feature and then type "<body>" to find the theme's opening "body" tag.

Navigate to the code that you want to copy in a separate window and then select the code and press "Ctrl-C" to copy it.

Return to the Tumblr window. Place your cursor immediately after the "<body>" tag and press "Ctrl-V" to paste your copied code.

Click "Update Preview" and "Save" to apply your pasted code to the blog's body.
