An SRT file is a computer file that contains video subtitle information. It is meant to be played alongside a video on your computer and will display subtitles that correspond with the video you're watching. If you want to convert an SRT file, the only option you have is to convert it into a standard Windows text file. This will allow you to open the file in a text editor such as Notepad and make any changes you need to the contents of the file before changing it back to the proper format.
Open Windows Explorer. Click "Tools" and "Folder Options." Click "View." Look for the box next to "Hide Extensions for Known File Types." If there is a check in it, click the box to remove the check. Click "OK." Windows Explorer will now display the file extension of all files on your computer.
Right-click on your SRT file. Click "Rename."
Change the ".SRT" part of the SRT file's name to ".TXT." This will convert it from an SRT file to a standard text document. Open the file in a text editor and make changes. To change it back to its original format, rename it back to ".SRT" from ".TXT."
