How to Change the BIOS Settings on an Asus Notebook

By C. Taylor

Your Asus notebook's hardware is controlled by the "basic input/output system" (BIOS). This software program resides in a dedicated area of your motherboard, and allows your system to boot into BIOS, even if no operating system is currently installed. Using BIOS, you can enable or disable hardware components, allow your Asus laptop to boot from CDs or monitor performance tools. To access BIOS, you must manually press the correct key or key combination at the appropriate time during bootup.

Boot up or restart your Asus notebook.

Press "F2" continually when the first text or graphic appears on the screen. This allows you to enter BIOS.

Make whatever changes you require in BIOS. Your mouse will not work in BIOS, so you must use your keyboard by navigating with your arrow keys and selecting items with "Enter."

Press "F10" to save and exit BIOS.
