Businesses and individuals can create Facebook events to let the public or chosen individuals know about meetings, outings and special promotions, as well as let them confirm their attendance and view event information. If you're an event's creator or host, you can cancel an event that is no longer going to take place. After you cancel it, everybody you invited receives a notification that the event is canceled, and the event's page is deleted. If a scheduling conflict is the reason for cancellation, you may change the date and time instead of canceling the event.

Go to your Facebook news feed if you're signed in using your personal account or go to your business page if you're signed in as a business.

Click "Events" under "Favorites" in the left pane of your personal Facebook news feed to see upcoming events. For a business page, click the "Events" tile on your business page to view all its events.

Click the name of the event you want to cancel to view its page.

Click the gray gear menu beside the "Edit" button. Click "Cancel Event" and then click "Yes" to confirm you want the event canceled.

Tips

Click the "Edit" button on your event's page if you want to change its date and time rather than cancel it. Update the "When" section of the event's info with a new date and time and then click "Save." Attendees receive a notification that the event has been updated.

Warnings

If the event was created more than a week ago, you cannot change the date or time.
