How to Cancel an Ad on Craigslist

Neither businesses nor individuals using Craigslist are required to create an account before they can post ads to the site. Though having an account makes management easier, you have the ability to cancel an ad with or without one. If you don't have a Craigslist account for your business, you need access to the email that was sent to you when you created the ad. If you have an account, nothing else is needed.

Cancel With an Account

Log in to your business's Craigslist account (see Resources).

Scroll through the list of ads to the one you'd like to cancel. You will see three management options under the Manage heading.

Click the "Delete" option to cancel the ad and then confirm the cancellation on the page that opens up.

Cancel Without an Account

Open the confirmation email you received from Craigslist when you created the ad. If you can't find it, search your email with the following keywords: "Post/Edit/Delete." The email should come up. If it doesn't, go to the Craigslist confirmation email resending page (see Resources) to have it resent.

Click the link in the email or copy and paste it into your Web browser's address bar to go to the ad management page.

Click the "Delete This Posting" button to cancel the ad and then confirm it on the page that opens up.
