How to Add Handsets to a Cordless Phone System
By Daniel Hatter
Most new cordless phones come with at least two handsets: a base unit and an add-on unit. In many office situations, one or two handsets isn't enough. To add an additional handset to your cordless phone system, you first need to consult its documentation to determine the model of a compatible add-on unit. Once you have the add-on unit, register it with your cordless phone system to begin using it.
Place the new handset unit in the main base. A message should flash on the phone's screen indicating that it is ready for registration.
Press and hold the "Find Handset" button on the base. The "In Use" light should illuminate after a few seconds. Consult your specific cordless phone system's documentation if the "Find Handset" button doesn't do anything; the documentation will tell you which button to press instead.
Press the "#" (pound) key on the handset, or another key if instructed by the system documentation. The add-on unit will now be registered with your phone system. Note that it may take up to a minute for the add-on unit to finish registering.
