How Can I Change My Content Filter?
By Michelle Varsallona
The Content Advisor on Windows computers will change the filtering for Internet Explorer. Content filters are a way to keep the Internet safe for children. You can limit or remove access to any sites that have sexual content, adult language, alcohol/drug references and more. If at any point you want to change the settings, access the Content Advisor to alter them.
Open the “Control Panel” from the Windows “Start” menu.
Click “Security” or “Security Center.”
Select “Internet Options.”
Click the “Content” tab.
Select “Enable” next to “Content Advisor.” Click “Settings” if it is already enabled.
Choose the content category that you want to change.
Use the slider to determine how much of that content is allowed to be seen. For example, click “Depiction of alcohol use” and you can move the slider below it to “None,” “Limited” or “Unrestricted.”
Click “Apply” to save your settings after you adjust the categories.
Click the “Approved Sites” tab and type the websites that you want to always allow or never allow.
Click “Apply” to save the blocked and allowed sites, and then click “OK” to exit.
