How to Stop Telemarketing Calls Once and for Allby ContributorUpdated January 09, 2018
Many of us wish that we can stop telemarketer calls from constantly calling our home and cell phones. Although those callers are persistent, there are several ways in which you can stop telemarketing calls from bothering you. But simply ignoring the calls will not be enough to stop companies from bothering you. You must take action.
Stop telemarketing calls by going to this website: donotcall.gov. It is the national Do Not Call Registry. You can register your phone numbers for free on the website and it will put a stop to telemarketers calling once it's been on the registry for 31 days. The do not call registry also lets you file a complaint on the website if you registered for more than 31 days and still receive telemarketing calls.
When a telemarketer calls your house, don't just get annoyed and hang up. Tell him to take your phone number off the list. Most of them will honor your decision and stop calling you. For those that have excuses to not take you off their list, tell them that you have registered your phone number on the national Do Not Call Registry and that you will file a complaint against the company if you receive another telemarketing call in the future. By saying that, you will most likely scare off that telemarketer and she will not call you again in the future.
It is very important to stop telemarketing calls because sometimes you might be scammed by their "sweet" deals. Or worse these telemarketing phone calls can be billed to your phone bills if they are calling out of state and request the receiver to pay the bills. If, during a call you tell the telemarketer three times that you do not wish to receive their services, in most cases, they are bound to end the call.
