How to Hook Up a PS3 to a Computer Monitor (4 Steps)

Many people use their computer monitors as a substitute for their televisions and like to play video games through their computer monitors as well. Playstation 3 (PS3) is one of the most popular video game consoles and can be easily connected to a computer monitor for those who do not want to run their PS3s through their televisions.

Step 1

Purchase the correct converter cable. You will need an HDMI male to DVI male converter cable. See the link in Resources for places to purchase this type of cable.

Step 2

Plug the HDMI male end into your PS3. There will be a slot in the back of your PS3 where you can directly plug in the HDMI cable.

Step 3

Connect the male end of the DVI cable directly into your computer monitor. Depending on what type of monitor you have, the connection port may be located in different places. However, most monitors will have a port on the back.

Step 4

Turn on PS3 and make sure that both video and audio are running correctly from the PS3 to the monitor.
