Although your Toshiba TV is equipped with a variety of different audio and video inputs, to receive a high-definition signal from your satellite dish or cable box, you must connect using an HDMI cable. Most Toshiba digital televisions, standard or high definition, require a signal source such as satellite or cable to receive an image. Get a crisp, clean high-definition image using the HDMI (High Definition Media Interface) cable to hook your Toshiba TV to the output source.

Step 1

Locate the video input ports on the back of your Toshiba television. Your TV should have AV and HDMI inputs for your component and HDMI cables.

Step 2

Insert one end of the HDMI cable into the "HDMI IN" port on the back of your Toshiba TV. Since one side of the HDMI tip is wider and one side is thinner, make sure you line the port with the HDMI tip before inserting to avoid any damages to the port.

Step 3

Plug the other of the HDMI cable into the "HDMI OUT" port on the receiving device, such as a camcorder, cable box, antenna receiver and gaming console.
