How to Hook Up an HDMI Cable to a Dell Inspiron

by Jason Taetsch

Hook up an HDMI cable to the port on your Dell Inspiron to send the video signal from your computer to an external monitor or TV. With the HDMI interface, you can free your digital videos and photos from the confines of your Dell's hardware and enjoy them on a larger screen.

Step 1

Locate the "HDMI" output on the left side of the Dell Inspiron. The port is shaped like a rectangle, but has two of the bottom corners cut at an angle.

Step 2

Insert one side of the HDMI cable into the port on the Dell.

Insert the other side of the cable to the "HDMI IN" jack on your TV or external monitor's input panel.
