How to Hide Certain Friends' Notifications on Facebook

Let's face it, everyone has friends on Facebook who share stories and post far too often. If you have a friend who is filling up your News Feed with posts you no longer want to see, you need not suffer through their barrage of notifications any longer. The News Feed on your Facebook homepage has a built-in feature for hiding notifications from selected friends. You can also hide notifications by navigating to your friend's Timeline.
Via Your News Feed
Step 1
Hover your mouse over a notification on your News Feed from the friend you want to hide.
Step 2
Click the downward-facing arrow in the top corner of the notification to display the options drop-down menu.
Step 3
Click "Hide..." on the drop-down menu.
Step 4
Hover your mouse over the "Change what updates you get from" link and click "Unsubscribe."
Via Your Friend's Timeline
Step 1
Log in to Facebook, enter your friend's name in the main search box at the top of the page and click his name on the search results that appear.
Step 2
Hover your mouse over the "Friends" button under the cover photo to display the options drop-down menu.
Step 3
Click "Show in News Feed" on the drop-down menu to remove the check mark and hide all notifications from this friend.
