How to Hard Reset an Onkyo TX-NR708
By Steve Lander
With the ability to play music from USB mass storage devices, do advanced video processing and automatically configure itself for the specific acoustic properties of your listening space, the Onkyo TX-NR708 is almost as much a computer as it is a piece of audio equipment. Like any computer, its processor can require a periodic reboot to get everything working again. The factory hard reset procedure is simple to do and effective. As an added bonus, it's also a great way to restore the receiver to like-new condition for resale.
Reset the Receiver
Step 1
Press the "Power" button to turn your TX-NR708 receiver on.
Step 2
Hold down the "VCR/DVD" button and, with another finger, press the "On/Standby" button. Watch the display. You should see "Clear" appear on the receiver's display before it goes into standby mode.
Step 3
Release the buttons.
Reset the Remote Control
Step 1
Press and hold the "Receiver" button.
Step 2
Press and hold the "Home" button while holding "Receiver."
Step 3
Release both buttons after the "Receiver" button lights up after a few seconds.
Step 4
Press and release the "Receiver" button one more time before 30 seconds elapses.
Warnings
- Resetting your device and remote will clear all of your presets and stored settings.
