How to Go to BIOS Settings on the E6400
By Sara Bailey
The BIOS, or basic input/output system, gives users the option of changing the settings of their computer without booting into Windows, Linux or another operating system. Basic settings, such as changing the boot order and system date, are all accessible from within the BIOS, but accessing the BIOS menu requires pressing an access key at the correct time during the boot process. Each computer manufacturer uses a different access key or combination of keys to get into the BIOS settings. The Dell Latitude E6400 uses a single key stroke to enter into the BIOS settings.
Step 1
Turn your Dell Latitude E6400 off by clicking the "Start" button and clicking "Shut down." Wait until your Dell completely shuts down before continuing.
Step 2
Press the "Power" button on the Dell Latitude E6400 to turn it back on. In a few seconds, you will see the Dell logo across the screen. This is the BIOS access page.
Step 3
Press the "F2" key on the top of the E6400's keyboard. The screen will flash quickly and the BIOS settings will be displayed.
Tips
- Exit the BIOS settings by pressing the "ESC" key on the keyboard and press the "Enter" key to save the settings. The Dell Latitude E6400 will reboot.
