How to Format a Remote Computer (4 Steps)
By TS Jordan
Although being physically present in front of a computer used to be a prerequisite for making major system changes such as formatting a PC, that is no longer the case. Thanks to the advent of Remote Desktop, a utility that allows you to control remote PCs from any computer connected to the Internet, you will be able to perform even the most complex computing task with ease from nearly anywhere in the world.
Step 1
Visit the IP-lookup page linked below from the computer to be formatted. Write down the computer's IP address.
Step 2
Open the Remote Desktop Client from the remote computer and input the IP address of the computer to which you want to connect.
Step 3
Press "Connect," enter in a username and password (if required), and press "OK" to complete the connection.
Step 4
Double click on the "My Computer" icon, right click on the drive to be formatted, and select "Format" to commence the formatting procedure remotely.
