How to Format a Lexar SDHC Card
By C. Taylor
Your Lexar Secure Digtal High Capacity, or SDHC, memory card offers portable storage for your computer and peripheral devices, such as digital cameras. You can format your Lexar SDHC directly through Windows 7, as long as you have a memory card reader that supports SDHC cards. When formatting the drive, you have the option to choose the file system. FAT32 is usually the best choice for such cards, since it offers maximum compatibility between operating systems and peripheral devices.
Insert Lexar SDHC card into the USB card reader with the metallic contacts going in first. The card orientation differs among card readers, but the card will only fit in one direction.
Plug the card reader into an available USB port on your computer. Windows 7 will automatically recognize the card.
Click "Open Folder to View Files" in the AutoPlay window. If you do not see an AutoPlay window, hold the "Windows" key and press "E." In either case, Windows Explorer will open.
Right-click the SDHC drive letter, and select "Format..."
Click the drop-down menu under "File System," and select "FAT32."
Click "Format," and click "OK" in the confirmation window to format your Lexar SDHC card.
