How to Fix a Blank Screen on an Apple iPod Touch

by Diana Braun

The iPod Touch is a portable multimedia device that runs on Apple's iOS software. Occasionally, the device software may freeze from installing new applications or running too many programs at once. This results in a white or blank screen. When this occurs, the device is virtually inoperable. Perform a system reset on the iPod Touch to fix a blank screen.

Press and hold the "Wake/Sleep" button on the top-right of the iPod Touch and the "Home" button on the bottom of the iPod Touch simultaneously.

Hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds. The Apple logo appears on the screen during the reset.

Charge the iTouch by attaching the power adapter to the device and plugging into an electrical outlet.

  • check Contact Apple customer support if the reset doesn't fix the blank screen. Your iPod Touch may have a hardware problem that needs to be replaced.
