How to Fix a File Header
By Jason Candanedo
When a ZIP file is corrupted or damaged, the objects contained within the file are unfortunately inaccessible. File system or header corruptions cause the ZIP file to become damaged. When a ZIP file is damaged and you try to unzip the file to extract the contents, the process will fail because the file is not whole. You can use free file repair software from the Internet to rectify this problem. After you repair the ZIP file, you can then proceed to extract the contents to your hard drive.
Go to the "WinRAR" Web page (see Resources) and download the tool. Double-click the executable to run the tool.
Locate the corrupted ZIP file through the tool's file explorer feature, which is in the main window. Click the file to select it and click "Repair," which is found at the top of the tool window.
Click "Browse" in the tool's menu and select a destination on your hard drive for the repaired ZIP file.
Select "Treat corrupt archive as a ZIP" and click "OK."
Go to the Object Fix Zip Web page (see Resources) and download the tool. Locate the downloaded file and run it by double-clicking it.
Click "Next" in the tool's "Welcome" screen and click "Add," located on the next page. Locate the corrupted ZIP file, select it and click "Next."
