How to Fix a Corrupt .CAB File

by Alizarin Black

A CAB file is an archive format that compresses data. The CAB is a format native to Microsoft Windows-based operating systems and is used for Microsoft Windows software installation that includes device drivers, network components, and system files. Microsoft Installers such as AdvPack, Setup API, and Device Installer frequently install data from a CAB file. Downloading a CAB repair program fixes the corrupt CAB file stored on your hard drive.

Download, install, and launch Advanced CAB Repair.

Click "..." to locate the corrupt CAB file and then click "Open."

Click "Start Repair," and Advanced CAB Repair scans and repairs the corrupt CAB file.

Click "OK" when the "Corrupted.cab has been repaired successfully" message box appears.
