How to Enable Wireless Assistant on a Laptop

Wireless Assistant is a utility provided by HP on laptops and PCs. The HP Wireless Assistant application makes connecting to a wireless network quick by streamlining network settings. Enabling the Wireless Assistant can be completed in just a few easy steps.

Step 1

Make sure the wireless device switch on the body of the laptop is in the "On" position.

Step 2

Locate the HP "Wireless Assistant" icon in the system tray at the bottom right corner of the desktop. The icon appears as an antenna with a signal emanating from it.

Step 3

Right-click on the "Wireless Assistant" icon.

Step 4

Select "Open HP Wireless Assistant" from the context menu.

Click the button labeled "Turn On" for the Wireless LAN entry. The HP Wireless Assistant is now enabled.


  • Select "Turn off WLAN" from the context menu of the HP Wireless Assistant to temporarily disable wireless access.
