How to Enable HDMI Inputs on the Sony BRAVIA KDL

The Sony BRAVIA KDL is a high-definition television that contains multiple ports for connecting a cable converter box or satellite receiver as well as four High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) ports for connecting devices that use HDMI connections. The ports are easily accessible on the left side and back of the television. Once you connect a Blu-ray or standard DVD player, Internet streaming media device or other HDMI-based device to your Sony BRAVIA KDL via an HDMI port, you must enable the port within the television’s setup component.
Step 1
Turn on your Sony BRAVIA KDL after plugging in the HDMI-based device into one of the HDMI ports on the side or back of your television.
Step 2
Press the “Menu” button on the television’s remote control and then use the remote control’s arrow keys to navigate to “Settings.” Press the “+” button to select Settings. Scroll to “Setup” and press the “+” button.
Step 3
Scroll to “Label Video Inputs” and press the “+” button to select the option. Press the down arrow key and highlight the HDMI port to which you connected the HDMI-based device – "1," "2," "3" or "4." Press the “+” button. Each HDMI port on the side or back of your Sony BRAVIA KDL is labeled. If you have to, look at the side or back of your television make a note of the number printed next to the port.
Step 4
Press the up or down arrow key and select the label that matches the HDMI port into which the device is plugged: “HDMI 1,” “HDMI 2,” “HDMI 3” or “HDMI 4.” Press the “+” button to select the label. Press the “Menu” button to exit your television’s setup component. The HDMI port is now labeled and ready for enabling.
Step 5
Press the “Input” button on the remote control until you reach the HDMI port label you assigned to the corresponding device you connected to the port -- "HDMI 1," "HDMI 2," "HDMI 3" or "HDMI 4." The HDMI port is now enabled. Audio and video from the HDMI device immediately starts transmitting to your Sony BRAVIA KDL. Repeat steps for the next HDMI input you need to label and enable.

- Your Sony BRAVIA KDL also contains a Control for HDMI component that automatically recognizes certain model Sony equipment containing HDMI ports. To enable the feature, press the “Menu” button on the remote control, navigate to “Settings,” press the “+” button. Select “Setup” and press the “+” button. Scroll to “HDMI Settings,” press the “+” button, and then select “Control for HDMI.” Select “ON” and press the “+” button. Plug the HDMI-based Sony device into any available HDMI port on the side or back of your television, and then turn on the device. Press the “Sync Menu” button on your television’s remote control and use the arrow keys to scroll to the device’s name to start transmitting audio and video from the device.
