How to Download YouTube Videos for Windows Mediaby Jennifer Long
YouTube is one of the many user-provided video uploading and sharing websites that allow you to download videos for free. In order to download the videos, BienneSoft created the YouTube Downloader, which is a free video downloading program and converter program all in one. In order to play your downloaded YouTube videos with Windows Media Player, they need to be converted into a format that is compatible with Windows Media Player. For videos, these formats include .mpeg, .avi, and .wmv file extensions.
Open your Internet browser and navigate to the YouTube Downloader website (see References for link).
Scroll down the Downloader's webpage until you see the "Download" button. Click the button to bring up the download pop-up. Click the "Save" button and note the folder where your download will go.
Click "Start" from your taskbar when downloading has finished. Choose the appropriate option from the side of your Start Menu to open the folder that contains the downloaded program. For default downloads (if you haven't changed the downloaded location), the Downloads folder is located in the Documents folder.
Double-click the YouTube Downloader program icon to start the installation wizard. Follow the prompts of the wizard and then click the box next to the "Run Program" option after installation is completed.
Locate the video you want to download from YouTube's website. Click the link in the address bar of your browser. Make sure the whole link is selected and right-click to choose the "Copy" option.
Click the "URL" box in the downloader window. Right-click and select the "Paste" option to add the video's web address to the box.
Click "OK" at the bottom of the window. After the "Save" window pops up, change the name of the video and save location if desired and then click "Save" or "OK."
Converting the Videos
Click the button beside the option to "Convert downloaded video."
Click the button with the file folder icon. Navigate to the location of your downloaded video file and double-click the file.
Click the "Options" button to change the outgoing file extension (what your video format will be converted to). Click "OK" when finished.
Click "OK" from the downloader window. Choose the volume and quality levels you want for the converted file and then click "OK" to start the file conversion.
Open the folder that contains the original downloaded video file and check to make sure the converted file is correct. You can also delete the original file.
Right-click the converted file and click "Add to Media Player list" to send the file to your Windows Media Player library. You can simply play the file from the folder without adding it to the list by selecting "Play" after right-clicking the file.
