There are plenty of ways to download music onto your computer, and they're all relatively easy. Once the music is on your computer, you can easily transfer it to your media player.

Step 1

Choose a method for downloading music. Some sites, such as Rhapsody, charge you a monthly fee and give you access to all the music you want; others, like iTunes, are free services where you only pay for the music you download. There are also services like Limewire, where you can pay for music or find free music.

Step 2

Go to the site of the music downloading program you would like to use. Some music downloading programs include iTunes, Rapsody, Limewire, and EzMusic, but there are many others. You might also check out Microsoft Music and Zune.

Step 3

Download the program specifically offered at the site you have chosen. For instance, you will download iTunes Media Player for iTunes, and Microsoft Zune Player for Microsoft Zune.

Step 4

Open up the program once it has downloaded and follow the on-screen prompts to install the program.

Step 5

Open the program and click "purchase" or "find music." For some programs, like iTunes, you will click on "Store."

Step 6

Search through the songs and albums available, and click on those that you want to download.

Step 7

Input your credit card information the first time you buy a song to pay for it. Many players will save this information for further purchases. Some sites require you to put in your credit card information before even making one purchase.
