How to Install Java 6 Update 7
By Diana Braun
Java is a programming language developed by Sun Microsystems. Java applications can run on any Java Virtual Machine (JVM) regardless of the computer operating system or architecture. To run a Java-based application, you must have Java installed on your computer. Most computers come equipped with Java already installed. Different applications require different versions of Java to run. Java 6 Update 7 can be downloaded to a PC from the Sun.com website.
Navigate to java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u7/index.html.
Click the "Download JRE" link located at the bottom of the page to download the Java 6 Update 7 install file.
Click on the Java 6 Update 7 executable (.exe) file located on your computer. The Java Setup Installation Wizard will launch.
Click the "Accept" button if you agree to and accept the license agreement. The Java software installation will then begin. Once it is complete, a "You have Successfully Installed Java" message will appear.
Tips
- Apple Computer provides its own version of Java. Use the Software Update feature (available from the Apple menu) to check that you have and are using the most up-to-date version of Java for your Mac computer.
