How to Download Crystal Report for Visual Basic 6.0
By Brian Hartman
Crystal Reports is included with Visual Basic 6 and allows the user to generate reports based on databases generated within Visual Basic. The method of installation varies depending upon which version of Visual Basic 6 is installed on the computer.
Step 1
Insert the required CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. Each version of Visual Basic 6 has the Crystal Reports installation file (Crystl32.exe) on a different disc, as follows:
Visual Basic Professional or Enterprise: Disc 1
Visual Studio Professional: Disc 2
Visual Studio Enterprise: Disc 3
The installation file is located in the "Common\Tools\VB" directory.
Step 2
Double-click on the installation file to begin the setup process.
Step 3
Click "Yes" when the setup program asks if you want to install Crystal Reports.
Step 4
Select where you would like the Crystal Reports application installed. The default directory is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common." If you would like to install to a different directory, click "Browse..." and navigate to the desired directory. Otherwise, click "OK." If the selected directory does not yet exist, the setup program will ask if you would like it created. Select "Yes."
Step 5
After the setup program finishes installing the software, it will display the message "Installation of Crystal Reports has been completed successfully." Click "OK" to exit the installation program.
