How to Download MP3 Files to a microSD Card or TF Card

By Lori Kaufman

Many MP3 players, as well as smartphones and other gadgets, use microSD cards to store MP3s and other files. You can also use a microSD card, also known as a TransFlash or TF card, to transfer music from one computer to another. To access the card, you need to use a SD card reader. Windows is able to recognize the card immediately and assigns a new drive to it.

Step 1

Connect the microSD card reader to your computer. Some readers must be plugged directly into a free USB port, while others require you to use a USB cable to connect them to the computer.

Step 2

Insert the microSD, or TF, card into the card reader. Windows immediately assigns a drive to your card.

Step 3

Press "Windows-X" to open the Windows Tools menu and choose "Windows Explorer" from the menu to open the File Explorer.

Step 4

Navigate to the folder that contains the MP3 files you want to transfer to the card, select the files and press "Ctrl-C" to copy them to the clipboard.

Step 5

Select the drive assigned by Windows to your card to view the contents of the card in the right pane.

Step 6

Open the folder you want to place the files into and then press "Ctrl-V" to paste the MP3s from the clipboard into the folder.

Remove the microSD card from the card reader and then disconnect the reader from your computer.
