How to Download New Maps for a Magellan Maestro 4040

The Magellan Maestro 4040 uses touch-screen graphics, detailed maps, and thorough directions to make travel easier than in the days of having to read paper maps on the road. The Maestro 4040 comes loaded with current maps and hundreds of points of interest, but the world is constantly changing and that includes roads, gas stations, restaurants, and other businesses. You'll need to update your maps periodically to keep up with the latest information and the best routes. Magellan regularly sells updates for its GPS systems. All require separate updates and not all systems need updates at the same time.

Update Maps

Step 1

Click "Products" along the top of the Magellan website. A drop-down menu will appear. Choose "Maps and software."

Step 2

Find the section called "Vehicle navigation maps" near the top center of the page. Locate the orange box labeled "Find maps by specific GPS model" and click the link.

Step 3

Click the scroll-down menu in the center of the page labeled "My GPS navigator is called a..." Choose Maestro 4040 and it will take you to a page that details the updates available for your GPS.

Step 4

Choose the update you desire. Click the "Add to cart" button.

Step 5

Locate the "Create your profile" link. It is written in blue letters under "New to Magellan?" Create a profile to continue with your transaction and then pay for your purchase.
